<![CDATA[KRIS LONDON POTTERY - Updates]]>Mon, 13 May 2024 23:18:13 -0400Weebly<![CDATA[eTSY UPDATE TONIGHT]]>Fri, 20 Oct 2023 17:39:52 GMThttp://krislondonpottery.com/updates/etsy-update-tonightI am activating listings for my latest creations to my Etsy shop this evening. I hope you'll take a look and let me know what you think. I don't have children, but I imagine this is kind of like showing people pictures of your new baby. You hope they don't tilt their head in puzzlement or scrunch up their face. But hey, if you do, that's fine too. There are some ugly babies out there. ;)

Some may wonder why I am posting on Etsy first rather than on my social media feed. Etsy makes handling orders and shipping much easier for me. Also, I don't have to be tied to my messages to find out if someone is interested in a piece. I can get back to work in the studio where I am happiest.

Here's a first look at a face jug named, Bad Pork. He's not happy about it, but he will be in my store later. Enjoy!

<![CDATA[Trying something new]]>Sun, 15 Oct 2023 18:43:42 GMThttp://krislondonpottery.com/updates/trying-something-newPicture
This time of year is typically when I share my latest batch of handmade pumpkins. However, this year I did not make the first one. Nope. Not. A. Single. Pumpkin. These thrown and sculpted pieces take a great deal of time, so I thought I'd create pieces not limited to a season. Instead, I have ventured into the realm of the face jug.

Attempting animals I've never made before has been challenging and extremely rewarding. Each has its own distinctive personality. Some are happy, but for some reason, the most fun to make have been the angry ones. Not sure why that is....

Bottom line: There's nothing like having an idea in your head and bringing it to fruition with your hands, clay and glaze. If you know, you know. Amirite, fellow clay artists???

I will be sharing these new pieces on my Etsy site soon. Check out https://krislondonpottery.etsy.com/

Here is a sneak peek at one of my favorites....

<![CDATA[everything is prettier in pottery]]>Fri, 19 Mar 2021 18:48:48 GMThttp://krislondonpottery.com/updates/everything-is-prettier-in-potteryCooking is the one activity (the one I'm willing to blog and post pictures about anyway) I enjoy as much as making pottery. I'm a complete dork at heart, so combining my two loves gets me far more excited than it should.

Trying out new recipes and sharing with family and friends is only made better by serving on handmade pottery. Trust me. Everything is prettier in pottery. Don't believe me? Well, get a load of this....

Appetizer on a paper plate? Oh, hell no! A unique tray elevates even the simplest creation.

Sugar snap peas and homemade ranch look fresh and delicious in a stoneware serving dish.

Can you make fried, pickled okra even more amazing? Boom! That just happened.
Confession is allegedly good for the soul from what I hear, so here goes.... I'm a charcuterie tray whore. I'm not even a little ashamed. Meats, cheeses, pickled veggies, fresh fruit, crackers. Yes, please! What's not to like? Add a complimentary glass of wine or other preferred beverage and you have an EVENT. Oh, it's just you at home by yourself? Who cares! Charcuterie don't judge.

How about a baguette with a smear of gourmet mustard topped with a bite of duck leg confit?

Don't need a tray full of snacks? I find a plate fits the bill sometimes.
If you enjoy cooking or just being the host/hostess-with-the mostess, check out the trays, bakers, bowls and more in my store. Each piece is microwave, oven and dishwasher safe. Functional art for sure!HERE Kitchen

<![CDATA[Chicken breasts]]>Thu, 04 Jan 2018 21:26:52 GMThttp://krislondonpottery.com/updates/chicken-breastsPicture
If you're familiar with folk pottery, you know that chickens and roosters are very popular subjects. I considered making roosters but there are so many incredible clay artists who make them that years ago I decided to do my own take on the fowl.

After seeing chicken breasts in the grocery store getting larger and larger over the years, I began imagining what a chicken with those sized breasts might look like.... No doubt she'd need some major "junk in the trunk" to balance her enormous front. Might even have tummy rolls. But, she'd be confident with an attitude even bigger than her boobs. She'd be SASSY! She wouldn't be caught wearing sweatpants and a T-shirt. Nope.

She'd be fancy. Evening gowns would accentuate "the girls" and showcase her curves. No flat "hairdo" for her. Her feathers would be coiffed to perfection. After a bit of trial and error, Chicken Breasts were born.

I'm thankful for customers who enjoy the fun and sass of my Chicken Breasts enough to add them to their collections. Many tell me how they make them smile each time they see them in their home. That makes me happy!

It's such a privilege for someone to like something you create with your head, heart and hands enough to buy it and place it in their home. I never take that for granted.
